Professional supervision

Professional (reflective) supervision provides a protected and confidential space to pause, think, and make sense of the complexity of your Principal role. Sessions offer time to explore your responsibilities, decision-making, interpersonal dynamics, and wellbeing as a school leader, and while it is 1:1, it does not encompass performance evaluation or appraisal, nor therapeutic/clinical support.

Sessions may include (but are not limited to) reflection on current workplace challenges, decisions, or complex scenarios, including consideration of relational, organisational, or ethical tensions; and exploration of how your work may impact your values, capacity, wellbeing, and sense of purpose.

Conversations are holistic and integrated, recognising that leadership effectiveness and wellbeing are deeply interconnected. Our work together will draw on:

  • Reflective practice and reflexivity, supporting you to examine experiences alongside beliefs, values, emotional responses, and assumptions
  • Multi-level, considering impact and alignment at the level of self, leadership team, and whole-school context, including staff, students, and families
  • Sense-making, particularly in periods of complexity, change, or uncertainty.

Across sessions, supervision may integrate relevant topics including:

  • Occupational wellbeing, including stress management and self-care
  • Well ways of working and leading, informed by integrated workplace mental health models and current national and state WHS codes and regulations
  • Positive leadership, including aspects of climate and culture, meaning and purpose, relationships, and communication alongside operational demands.
